What are School Horses?

School (or lesson) horses are used to teach both new and experienced riders new skills. It takes a certain type of horse to school riders, they need to be able to deal with unsure riders who give them incorrect cues. Good school horses have to be sound and correct and are often older horses over the age of 10-15 that have a bunch of experience and training.

Some other characteristics that make for good school horses include being calm, cold-blooded and well behaved.
