The looks of a Gypsy at half the price! Nick is a May 2020 gorgeous sooty buckskin gelding with dapples!!! He has thick, wavy mane and tail to spare. He also has silver ear and guard hairs; shaggy like a Gypsy. Feather to his knees an hocks. "Finnick O'Hair" can be DNA registered with the Gypsy Horse Association through Heritage as a Gypsy sired cross. The palomino GVHS Boone is his sire. The bay Thoroughbred is his mother.... Looking for an eventer or jumper? Nick had his first jump lesson and loved it! He will stay in a program the rest of the summer. Our daughter is a three day eventer and she has taken him over crossrails. We have taken Nick up to the Skyline cross country course in Mt Pleasant. He watches and learns fast. (He jumped a 4' fence with our OTTB during a wind storm.) He has a Thoroughbred work ethic. He canters out alone. No fuss leaving the group. He trotted through the water obstacle and went up and down 18" banks. He is willing to go over anything you point him at. He would be a fun cross country partner or event horse. Has a 15" overreach at the extended walk. Sidepass. There are times when he looks like a Gypsian or Friesian cross. (fraction of the price tag!) I'm sure he will get fancy for dressage tests. He is working on flexsion and carriage.
Fall of 2022 Nick had 60 days of professional training with Dan Meyers Performance Horses. Dan says, "HE'S GOT IT!" Easily a "FIVE FIGURE" horse when finished. "When you sit on a horse you can just tell." Nick would excel at barrels, poles, scurry, cutting, ranch work, drag calves, roping, you name it! I cannot run any patterns, so we have not put a pattern on him. He spent a week down in Bryce collecting and loading cattle and loved it! Nick dragged logs and was good with the dogs. Her complaint was that he jumped out of his little individual pen at night to be in with the rest of the stock horses. (I think he’s try to tell us something about jumper! LOL) He's very cowy.
Nick just turned 3 this May. He's currently almost 15.2 hh and might make 15.3. I say he's an amazing cross wether you're looking for a draft cross with bone, chill ground manners or similar to an appendix with athletic ability and easy to train. Great all around horse. He has the brain and agility! He has an engine when needed. No buck. No spook. Leg yields both shoulders or haunches and picks up his leads when asked. I've seen him do flying changes... above my pay grade, haha! He loves to take the lead on the trail wether out in the desert or up in the mountains. He can cover ground! Dead fall in deep back country is not a problem. He's the real Man From Snowy River mount.
Nick comes when called and is easy to catch and self loads straight or slant. Farrier LOVES his feet and bone. Been barefoot his whole life. Never been sore nor lame. Up to date with vet and lifetime brand inspection. Born and raised here. Easy going in your pocket type. We have a Friesian cross on the ground and another Drum foal due next month. Well cared for and loved, so a great home is a must! Come give Nick a spin in the arena.
