Located on 150 scenic acres of rolling farm-land with the Bacon Creek winding its way through the middle is Cardinal Farms. This family-owned farm has been in operation almost a quarter of a century and continues to be owned by the Clausons, the family who began it. The trainer and riding instructor at Cardinal Farms are Adam and Desiree Clau-son, son and daughter-in-law of Don and Janet Clauson. Adam grew up on this farm and gained a deep admiration and love for the American Saddlebred; he knew from the time that he was very young he would be a Saddlebred trainer one day. After years of apprenticeship at several other barns, he came home to take over the training duties at Cardinal Farms. Desiree also grew up around horses and began riding with her aunt at the age of three. She started taking lessons with Debbie Wathen and later moved to study under Lillian Shively. During those days, everyone on the county fair cir-cuit knew everyone else...It was through this circuit that she met Adam. They had known each other for some time when she finally moved to Cardinal Farms to begin teaching riding lessons in 1991and in 1992 they were married. Website:cardinalfarms.net
Desiree is one of the premier riding instructors in the business. With more than 20 years of experi-ence in teaching riders of all age-groups, she pro-vides each student with the right level of encour-agement and challenges to meet their needs. Whether its to just learn to ride or to go to the World Championship Horse Show, Adam and De-siree have the skills to help riders meet their goals.
