No reasonable offer will be turned down! I have a 12 yr old chestnut quarter horse mare. Her name is Shiloh and she's 15.1 hh. She is UTD on everything ( farrier, wormers, west nile, annual shots, and coggins). She is totally sound and extremely well built and personable. She responds well to positive reinforcement and isn't one of those horses that is constantly testing you. Once she figures out right and wrong, she's pretty forgiving and willing to go with the flow.... (read more) She also retains training very well so once she learns something, it stays with her.
Shiloh is very easy to catch and willing to please. Her conformation would make her wonderful for many disciplines and her movements have great natural tendencies towards collection and balance. She has a build more similar to warmbloods than the bulky bulldog look of most quarter horses.
She has limited trail experience because she was only ridden around the farm and anywhere she went was within riding distance. She has been around dogs, cars, and other horses without any issues. She ties, bathes, and stands for the farrier very well. She has great ground manners, leads well, backs from the ground and the saddle, stands to be tacked and sits still while you get on. She has never shown any inclination towards biting, kicking, or rearing.
I'm selling her for a friend of mine who has back problems. He got her because he loves quarter horses but found that he can only handle ridding gaited horses. Because of this, she's never been worked at a canter until I started riding her. She is an angel at a walk and trot but in the transition between a trot and canter she wants to give a buck. It only took me about 10 minutes to work it out of her so I have no doubt that she will VERY easily overcome that with someone who can put a week or two into her. Like I said, she retains very well and all she needs is positive repetition.
Her only major vice is that she will not trailer. She's never had to. It breaks my heart because she has SO much potential but has never had someone who had the time to help her reach it. We can load her if we HAVE to but we prefer if you come prepared. Just know that if she's something you would be interested in, trailering is something you will have to put some real time into. NO REASONABLE OFFER WILL BE TURNED DOWN. If she's something you're interested in, don't be shy, just let us know what she's worth to you. Her owner is looking at the possibility of having to move north soon on account of a family emergency and he can't take her with him.
please call, text, or email if you have any questions. please come out to meet her anytime. she's located in Summerville, sc. 843-729-2903
