Before you read, PLEASE NOTE that Storm is located in La Crete AB, Canada. This is approximately a 6-7 hour drive north of Edmonton.
Storm is a 15.3hh 5 y/o Belgian draft/Arab/QH gelding. He is put together beautifully with big bones and feet, a long neck, short back, round croup, and a handsome face (small ears, wide forehead, small muzzle). He has very balanced, uphill movement, particularly at the canter. He has a ground covering stride and is extremely comfortable to ride.... (read more) He is barefoot and sound.
Storm is friendly and loves to socialize. He loves people and is always the first to greet me. He's a trickster and full of character. While he's definitely a quieter, more laid-back sort, he is not without spirit! He'd fit well with someone who is confident and assertive and who would appreciate his social character.
Storm was "officially" started under saddle in spring 2014. He can w/t/c on a loose rein and guides well. He knows the basics of sidepassing, turn on the haunches, turn on the forehand, and backing. He has been on different footings including mud. Right now his training is focusing on suppleness and responsiveness under saddle. On the ground, he has excellent manners - he leads well, stands for sprays, good with his feet, loads a trailer and travels well, lunges at three gaits, is easy to catch, backs up, and moves his hindquarters and shoulders upon request.
He is normally ridden in a snaffle bit and western saddle, but I have ridden him bareback with simply a halter and lead rope many times.
He has no rear, buck, bolt, or spook. He has no vices, other than occasionally bolting on the lunge line out in the open. He is always lunged in enclosed spaces to prevent this becoming a habit.
I think Storm would be a wonderful all-around mount for an experienced rider - I say this because he is still green and does not have many trail miles. I made the decision to sell based on my lack of time to advance his training and not having a purpose for him at this stage in my life.
