14 yr old Liver Chestnut trail mare - 15 hands. FUN, fun horse to ride! Goes over, under or through anything you put in front of her. I have had her for almost 4 years and really enjoy riding her. I found out she does not like riding in big group rides (over 20 horses) I have taken her on rides with over 500 horses and had a blast but she gets progressively more nervous when horses keep passing - then she gets a bit prancy - nothing dangerous or hard to control and actually a lot of fun and very smooth to ride.... (read more) NEVER bucks or rears in these situations.
If you just like to walk along with a friend or two (even up to 15 horses or so and she is still fine) she is the perfect horse for ANY age or level of rider. NEVER spooks at anything and is our best trail horse in smaller groups.
I tried to barrel race her at a local fun show and found out she must have been barrel raced or done reining in the past as she was waaaay more responsive to legs and weight shifts than I ever dreamed she even knew how to do!! However she took a couple weeks to settle back down again so I probably would not recommend her for that unless you are a rider that doesn't mind that. (which a lot of teen riders like but I am older and don't care for it)
She is easily a $3000 dollar horse (or higher) on her looks and confirmation alone let alone her total willingness on even the roughest trails, but because of her big group nerves I have priced her lower at $2000.
Great for vet, deworming loads very well, etc. 12 out of 13 times we have had her feet done she was an angel. 1 time she was not going to let us do it at all until I walked her out of the garage we had planned to use ( a new spot for her) and she was totally fine....I have no idea what she did not like but that has been the only time.
She is actually my favorite horse to ride when it comes to fun, controllable and easy on my knees and back but as I am getting older I have decided to get a gaited trail horse.
