"Brio" is a 14 year old 15.1 hh Warmblood x Quarter Horse. He was a confidence builder for me after a bad accident on my first horse. Before I bought him, he was used for English (dressage/jumping)/Western lessons and trail riding. Because he knows leg/seat cues and needs a rider with soft hands, he would be best suited for an intermediate/advanced rider or an advanced beginner working with a trainer. He would be ideal for someone who wants to learn lower level dressage or natural horsemanship, or an experienced person in need of a versatile and steady partner.... (read more) Due to arthritis, he needs a job with minimal jumping (he can probably return to jumping cross-rails and low verticals with reconditioning); however, with full turnout is he sound at the W/T/C and has plenty of miles left.
He has good ground manners and extensive ground work training, including round-pen work and in-hand work with a bridle or rope halter. Under saddle he is a little on the lazy side, but has plenty of impulsion if asked. Knows simple lead changes and lateral work. He's consistent whether riding in the field or arena, alone or in company, and whether he last worked yesterday or a week ago. Rides in a plain snaffle bit. He has occasionally mildly spooked at deer or bucked after a jump, but otherwise has no vices. Always takes new situations in stride. His willingness, interest in people, and dependability have always made him a favorite at the barn.
Brio is UTD on vaccinations, teeth, coggins etc. Only selling because going to grad school. Price negotiable. Please email for more photos and video.
