Raven is a sweet girl who is eager to please. She needs a rider who can stand their ground and not let her get away with bad behavior as she will test new riders. I currently use an english saddle on her (that is my preference) but she does well with western. She has never displayed any poor or negative ground manners with me. Never bitten or kicked. She loves to be groomed and does great when having her bridle path and withers clipped as well as around her muzzle.... (read more)
I have no problem catching her from the pasture although the girls at the barn say they have trouble every now and then. She is usually the alpha female when sharing a pasture. I've never seen her not get along with any other horses.
Raven leads well, lifts her legs with ease during grooming and has an amazing gait and canter. She wants to go go go though. She has high energy and can be stubborn at times. I have been working with her to try and keep her from spooking as much and she does great when with other horses but alone almost every little thing spooks her. She does NOT run off when spooked. She stops quick and plants her feet.
She loads well - with and without other horses in the trailer. She is stubborn and sometimes will try to make you work to get her on, but she has always loaded, with no injuries to herself or others. She reminds me of a toddler - wanting to see what she can get away with.
When I groom her she ground ties. She will follow me without a lead rope. And listens to commands in the round ring. She knows how to neck rein but since I ride english I rarely ever used that method. During the summer months her coat turns a brownish color but I add black sun flower seeds to her feed to help keep her coat black.
I feel like there is so much more I should be saying about Raven. I didn't want to have to make the decision to sell her. She has so much potential and unfortunately I cannot devote a lot of time to her right now. She needs someone who will ride her often and work with her to continue her growth.
I use a vet out in Burgaw NC. The ferrier comes out every 6 weeks and she does not wear shoes. She had her last rabies vaccination in October 2013. In March 2014 she received her E&W Eq. Encephalomyelitis and Tetanus, West Nile Vaccine, and Influenza and Rhinopneumonitis vaccines. I will gladly get all of her records from her vet to give to new owner(s).
Feel free to contact me to ask questions. Will be happy to let potential buyers ride her or visit her with my supervision.
