Trained using using natural horsemanship from the beginning. Disengages hindquarters and forequarters. Moves away from pressure side passes both sides. He can do some neck reining but is use to direct rein. Picks up all feet with no problem. Never had health issues. Although small crack in hoof ever since I've had him, he's never been lame. Never been shoed. Would recommend shoes if intense workouts and rough trails. Been on tons of trail rides alone and in groups.... (read more) Very light mouth. Use a hackamore but a light snaffle would work. Stands to be saddled, bathed and brushed. If you're short he will drop his head to be haltered and bridled. Easy to catch in pasture. No bite or buck. Quick learner. Picks up new things quickly. Usually lounged 5-10 mins before riding to get his attention and warm him up. Best suited for intermediate rider with confidence. UTD on shots (April). Recent Coggins (Oct 2012). Feet just done in June. He's 5. Big baby. I've had him since he was 6 months. He's been ridden by my nieces who were 7 and 11 at the time.
