Feather is a beautiful sorrel/overo paint mare. We have had her for 3 years and she was my son's first horse. She has been used for 4-H and my son's very first year in horse and pony placed 2nd in pleasure class, 4th in halter and 3rd in walk-trot. That was after having pulled her out of the pasture after 6 months and with a beginner rider! However, I would recommend an intermediate rider for Feather as she can be stubborn. Not mean, just needing the hand of someone who knows how to redirect a horse and will be firm.... (read more)
She is easy to catch in the pasture, loves attention, is very inquisitive and follows us around whenever fence mending is in order. She is very good for the vet and farrier, lifts all four feet, loves to be groomed, good with baths, longes, will stand tied for hours, and easily trailer loads. She is registered with the APHA, but to our knowledge has never been bred.
She is the dominant mare, but learns to get along with others and she is fine under saddle. Walks, trots, canters, backs. Is good on trails and in the 4-H arena. Great in halter class. Her coloring is gorgeous in the ring and a blue halter brings out her blue eyes. Very flashy.
Feather is an easy keeper, loves children and her favorite game is "follow the leader". She prefers women and children over men. And she'll do anything for a banana, her favorite food.
Feather needs a new home, not thru any fault of her own, but she does not pull. All of our animals have at least two jobs on the farm and Feather does not. A GOOD HOME is a MUST. She is a good horse, that did well by my son and took good care of him in 4-H and she deserves a loving home where she can receive more attention. (She has not been ridden since last summer.)
