? ASTRID — A DIFFERENT KIND OF LEASE ?
We have a very unique lease opportunity available for someone who wants to be part of a young horse’s journey. ?
Meet Astrid, a 13.3hh, 3-year-old Quarter Horse cross who is just beginning her riding career.
Astrid has had a total of 5 rides so far. She is extremely green, but she is also very well-mannered and has a wonderful personality.
She currently rides in the round pen and is learning the basics — walk, trot, lope, and stop.... (read more) There is still SO much for her to learn, which is exactly what makes this lease different.
? EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
If you’re interested in eventually riding Astrid:
We’re looking for an advanced rider with experience handling and riding young, green horses. Someone confident, patient, and comfortable continuing to develop a horse that is still very early in her training.
If you’re interested in groundwork, liberty, horsemanship, and care:
We’re looking for an intermediate-level horse person with solid horse-handling experience and an interest in developing a young horse from the ground up.
All applicants must be 18+ and under 130 lbs.
? A NOTE ABOUT ASTRID
Astrid is a young horse at the beginning of her education, so her training will be a process. Like any young horse, she may have moments where she is unsure, excited, or still figuring things out.
For that reason, riding will be introduced gradually and only when Astrid and the rider are ready. Riding time isn’t guaranteed, and her development and comfort will always come first.
We want someone who understands that working with a young horse takes patience, consistency, good horsemanship, and an appropriate level of caution.
This is an opportunity to learn with a young horse — not simply ride a finished one.
What the lease may include:
? Groundwork
? Liberty work
? Horsemanship and communication
? Grooming and care
? Building confidence and trust
? Learning how to work with a young horse
? Progressing into riding when and if appropriate
Astrid has become very attached to her people, and we’d love to introduce her to more people and build her circle of trusted humans. This isn’t about rushing her or putting miles on her as quickly as possible. It’s about helping her develop into a confident, well-rounded horse while giving someone the opportunity to learn alongside her.
This will NOT be your average lease.
You won’t be leasing a finished horse with a set list of things she can already do. You’ll be joining us in the process of building those skills together.
? Facility includes:
• Indoor arena
• Outdoor arena
• 3 round pens
• Tack available for use
If you’re an adult who wants hands-on experience developing a young horse and is comfortable putting horsemanship, patience, and safety ahead of riding time, Astrid might be exactly what you’re looking for.
? Message us with a little about yourself, your horse experience, and whether you’re interested in groundwork/liberty or eventually riding.
