✨ ANDROMEDA — A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH ✨
Friesian × Saddlebred 3-year-old Mare
Every once in a while, you come across a horse who makes you stop and wonder. This particular mare has an intriguing backstory, and just maybe . . . YOU will be the highlight of her fairy tale.
If you are looking for an opportunity to adopt a young horse now to invest your time in, then keep reading, and you will be introduced to a gorgeous animal worth considerably more than the initial financial investment.... (read more)
Andromeda is a gorgeous cross that immediately catches your attention. She is a fancy mover with beautiful, high-stepping knee action and elegant gaits. Clearly she is naturally eye-catching now, but what makes this opportunity particularly exciting is knowing the magnificent horse she will become. She is solid black with small white socks on her hind legs. With the summer sun she shines now in a rich coffee making her look like an elegant bay. At only 3-years-old, she's just a baby with at least two more years of growing to do.
As beautiful as she is, what makes any horse truly special is what is on the inside. Andromeda has a kind eye, a gentle spirit, and a strong, thoughtful mind. She notices everything around her, but rather than immediately reacting, she watches with undeniable intelligence. She studies. She considers. She seems genuinely interested in understanding. She's curious and observant without being unnecessarily spooky.
And now for the fairy tale:
Everyone loves a rags to riches story. Our program unapologetically searches auctions, looking for those rare souls that don't belong there. No horse deserves to be sold to the highest bidder and discarded to a risky fate. But our purpose is to identify animals with high potential, rescue them from what could be a tragic end, and rehabilitate and train them so they are prepared to find their happy-ever-after. Sadly, we must pass over hundreds of horses every month . . . but one day . . . there stood a gem. Without any effort by whoever left her there, she was a mystery without a backstory, but clearly of excellent conformation and a solid mind despite the chaos of the auction and so many animals filled with fear. After we got her to the safety of our ranch and gave her time to decompress, we were quite surprised that she easily took a saddle, then easily took a rider, and was apparently trained to ride. Someone had spent time with this horse, yet she was left at an auction without care to her future. Some people are led to do this out of desperation and their sudden inability to care for a horse . . . and others could just care less. We may never know.
Very rarely we find that Diamond in the Rough . . . and we help them shine. And this is where you come in. Our entire purpose is to find a horse's forever partner. But we can't do that without fully vetting each horse through medical, temperament testing, assessment, training, and time.
Since arriving, her training has continued to progress nicely. She isn't explosive and she isn't dull. When you ask her to move out, she will. She has that wonderful combination of a sensible mind with enough forward movement and athleticism to make her VERY FUN. In fact, she would make an excellent cross country or endurance horse, but could just as easily work in the arena or accompany you on trails.
Andromeda gets along with all the people and animals, bathes and grooms well, trailers perfectly, stands quietly when mounted, and moves out with the slightest ask. She stops well and she is giving to pressure. She rides western or english, with a snaffle or bitless. (We love to train all our horses to be sensitive enough to ride bitless and she's doing great.) She does not take off, she does not bolt, she does not kick or bite. Clicker training has been started.
She has been vetted and the doctor says she has excellent conformation with a beautiful combination of traits for a Saddlebred and a Friesian, and she's had an ultrasound to confirm she is NOT in foal. Her feet are smaller like a Saddlebred but stronger like a Friesian. She has a graceful arched neck and tall head carriage, clean, straight legs and enough lithe muscle to go all day. UTD on coggins and vaccines.
Her adopter will receive 3 included lessons to reinforce the training she has had. She has a 30-day soundness guarantee and a 14-day return for any reason guarantee. Our goal is to find her perfect match. Are you it?

Angel Ranch Stables
Each of our horses are clicker trained so they seek engagement with their human partner. They are not threatened or hurt in the training process, but rather, they are given the time to discover what we are asking through LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) training principles. To start the journey, each horse is taught to 'catch themselves' by crossing the pasture on their own to willingly place their nose into the halter.... (read more) They are taught to back up to win a treat, instead of retreating out of fear; they learn to respond to the slightest touch of the reign or lead rope; and they learn to stand quietly and patiently whether their human is on the ground or in the saddle.
As socially intelligent and emotional creatures, horses inherently crave relationships. At Angel Ranch Stables, we make it our goal to find the right person for the right horse. With decades of experience in temperament testing, we are able to identify animals that are gentle and kind. When a horse is adopted into our program, we medically screen them with our experienced veterinarians, and give them months to years of training in a safe and peaceful setting, before we find their perfect human match.
Because we spend 200-600 hours training each horse, we know their character and personality well enough to identify their perfect, forever home. We are so confident our adopters will adore their horse, we offer a buy-back guarantee for the LIFE OF THE HORSE.
