Moki is the epitome of what comes to mind when you picture a classic American Quarter Horse gelding! First, there’s that gorgeous buckskin color—because who doesn’t love a buckskin? Add in his beautiful conformation, proportional build, great feet, and thick mane and tail, and he has the kind of look that immediately catches your eye. His pedigree is every bit as impressive as his appearance, with legendary names like **Doc O’Lena and Boonlight Dancer** right on his papers.... (read more) Moki looks the part, rides the part, and has all the qualities that have made the Quarter Horse America’s favorite all-around horse.
As much as we love the way Moki looks, his disposition may be even better. He’s gentle, willing, and easy to get along with, whether you’re handling him on the ground or sitting in the saddle. He’s quiet enough to comfortably carry the kids, but he isn’t a horse that you’ll outgrow as your riding ability progresses. When a more experienced rider picks up the reins and asks him for more, Moki is happy to step up and show you just how much ability he has. That combination is hard to find—a horse that can take care of a less experienced rider without giving up the responsiveness and athleticism that make him fun for an accomplished horseman.
Moki is just as comfortable spending his day out working cattle as he is riding circles in the arena. He enjoys having a job and is great around cows, making him a natural choice for someone wanting a horse to use around the ranch. Take him out to check fences, move cattle, or spend the day riding across the pasture, and he settles right into whatever you ask of him. Then bring him back to the arena and he transitions seamlessly into more precise work.
In the arena, Moki has a great handle. He neck reins beautifully, lopes gorgeous circles, and has a great stop. He is responsive without being overly sensitive and has the mechanics, athletic ability, and trainability to go in virtually any direction you choose. We think he would be an especially fun ranch riding horse, but his ability certainly doesn’t limit him to one discipline. He’s the kind of horse you can continue developing and enjoying for years to come.
We’ve also put Moki through our entire obstacle course, and he approaches everything with the same willing attitude he brings to the rest of his work. He crosses water, handles logs and obstacles, and takes new challenges in stride. He picks things up quickly, thinks his way through what you’re asking, and seems to genuinely enjoy learning something new. Those qualities translate beautifully to the trail, where having a horse that will listen to his rider and confidently tackle whatever comes along makes all the difference.
What really makes Moki special is just how many boxes he checks. He has the looks and pedigree that make you proud to own him, the disposition that makes you look forward to spending time with him, and the training and athletic ability to keep things interesting. He can slow things down and take care of the kids, then turn around and give an experienced rider plenty of horse when asked.
Whether your plans include ranch riding, working cattle, checking fences, tackling obstacles, spending long days on the trail, or simply having one beautiful gelding that the whole family can enjoy, Moki has the versatility to do it all. He’s the kind of horse that can wear a lot of different hats—and look pretty darn good wearing every one of them!
