6-Year-Old Registered Friesian/Quarter Horse Cross Gelding- LOCATED IN ERWIN NC
If you’re looking for a versatile, eye-catching gelding with a solid foundation, this handsome blue roan gelding is ready for his next partner. Standing 16hh, he has the athleticism and presence to excel in a variety of disciplines with the right person.
He was started under saddle as a 2-year-old before spending the last three years as an English lesson horse, where he carried riders of varying experience levels.... (read more) He has since transitioned back to the western discipline and continues to progress well. Same owner since before he was started, we know all of his story on this handsome guy!
He has a naturally laid-back personality and is more of a kick ride than a forward horse. He prefers a relaxed pace and is not the type to get hot or rush through his work.
While he has a solid foundation, he is still a young horse that is continuing his education. He would benefit from more consistency and mileage to further develop his training. One area that still needs work is his trot-canter transitions. With regular, correct riding, he continues to improve. He currently is not in a consistent program and flourished prior. He is used to your typically slow-trail pace and would easily work back up to easy transitions depending on your riding program.
Over the last several months, our primary focus has been exposing him outside of the arena. He has been introduced to many trails and environments, continuing to build confidence with each outing. He has handled new experiences well and is proving to be a willing partner as his exposure expands.
He has excellent ground manners and is respectful to handle. Like many young, big horses, he could become pushy on the ground if boundaries were not reinforced. With consistent handling and clear expectations, this has never been an issue with myself handling or anyone at our farm. He stands tied, bathes, loads most days well but sometimes with patience, is good for the farrier, and is easy to handle overall.
He has successfully carried beginner riders in a supervised lesson program and has also jumped 2ft+ with room to grow. I have personally jumped a few logs at Moss Foundation and he loves it! However, because he is still developing in his overall training, we feel he is best suited for a confident, consistent rider. I would trust him to carry beginner riders easily in an arena. He has all the qualities to make an excellent trail horse, pleasure horse, lesson horse, or all-around partner.
He is sound, healthy, and ready for his new home!
