Fig is one hairy little dude! This colt has the sweetest personality and is very true to the Gypsy breed in both demeanor and type. His name, Figata, means cool in Italian! He is incredibly stout and is proving to have bone and hair aplenty.... (read more) Fig's personality is bold and kind, but also curious and inquisitive. He is always up for an adventure with the other foals and is one of the first to greet you for strongly demanded bum scratches. Fig sports two blue eyes and a gorgeous palomino tobiano coat. We feel he would be best suited as an all around family type horse, but could go in any direction from driving to english or western disciplines. This colt has been handled by kids (under supervision. - he IS a baby) and is very well mannered, as are all our foals.
Fig's sire, SD Daddy Cool, needs little introduction to the Gypsy world! He was bred from impeccable gypsy lines by the Downs Family in the UK, then imported to Canada where he stands at River Lane Ranch right here in Edmonton Alberta.
SD Daddy Cool is a direct grandson of both SD The Rocking Horse and SD Sheba. He achieved a Gold Evaluation at his 2023 TGCA inspection and was crowned the 2024 TGCA International Gypsy Cob Of The Year. He also took home both the Youngstock Gold and Senior Gold at the 2024 RLR TGCA Show. With exceptional confirmation featuring a short back, compact body, beautiful face AND impeccable feathering, this stallion has consistently thrown bone, hair and correct confirmations to his foals.
Fig's dam, San Cler Pearl Charm “Eerie,” is no stranger to our program. Eerie always throws foals with the most incredible minds and most beautiful confirmation. She was imported to Canada from the UK at a young age and spent most of her days being ridden and loved by our late best friend at Wanderlust Equine. Eerie was shown lightly under saddle in both English and western, but really excelled on the trail and at making fabulous babies. After her owners tragic passing in 2021, we welcomed Eerie into our fields as a forever home, to honour our best friend and hold onto a tiny piece of her amazing legacy. We have countless memories with Eerie and her mom on the trail, in the arena and in the show ring. Giving this mare her forever place in this world, where we know she will be forever loved and cared for, is the least we could do for such an amazing soul. Sentiment aside, Eerie does come from the incredible San Cler breeding program and passes proper confirmation, trainability and quality to her offspring.
We predict Fig will finish out between 13.1 and 14.1hh. He is papered with the GVHS. He would make an excellent family prospect or great under saddle mount for an Adult Amateur. With his bone, he will fill out some leg despite being on the shorter side.
Fig loads in the trailer, stands for the farrier and is up to date on worming and trims. He will leave here after weaning able to bathe and tie. He will be ready to travel after weaning in October.
Located near Drayton Valley. I have tons of experience exporting and hauling into the USA and would be happy to discuss personally delivering him to his new home. I have tons of contacts for shippers that cross over as well.
No quarantine is required, no tariffs apply and horses crossing only require a coggins and a basic health certificate.
