Preacher is a sweetheart. He is a senior quarter horse gelding with a heart of gold. He is available for adoption through Star Child Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Clyde NC. Preacher came to us severely starved and covered all over in rock hard poop and mud. Over the last 6+ months, Preacher has made an incredible transformation and is so much happier and healthier. He has gained 300+ lbs and has been cleared by the vet.
Preacher does have limited teeth associated with his age and requires soaked senior feed to continue gaining and then maintain his body weight.... (read more) He also has age related arthritis and would not be suitable for an adult rider.
He would however make a wonderful companion for another horse or pony. He would also be wonderful for someone who just wants to spend time on the ground with a horse brushing, petting, and feeding treats.
Preacher is easy to catch, lead, and tie. He stands for fly spray, grooming, and the farrier. He is up to date on vaccines and coggins.
This boy has fought so hard to be here and now its time to find him his forever home. He is not currently on any medications and is active for his age. He does take a joint supplement in his feed.
He could be suitable for leadline or light riding for kids under 80lbs. He won't be doing long or fast rides, but he would be happy to teach someone the basics and keep them safe. He is healthy for his age and should have a few more good years in him.
