**HONEST AS THEY COME AD**
Nattie is an 11 year old grade QH mare standing roughly 15hh. She is best suited for an experienced rider who appreciates a horse with personality and quirks.
Nattie is athletic, quick, and very much "on the muscle." While she's currently my reliable 4D horse, I genuinely believe she has the potential to be a solid 3D horse—or possibly more—with a rider who clicks with her style and can bring out her best.... (read more) Unfortunately, I know I'm not the rider who does her justice, but I know there's more there for the right person.
She does have quirks and is watchy, and I'm happy to discuss them openly with serious buyers. Finding the perfect home for this mare is non-negotiable, which is why she is absolutely not a rushed sale. I'd rather keep her than see her end up in the wrong situation.
On the ground, Nattie is truly exceptional. She probably has the best ground manners out of the entire barn. She leads, loads, lunges, stands tied, and will ground tie quietly. She has a quiet demeanor when it comes to the herd, stays out of herd drama, and is low on the pecking order while still knowing how to take care of herself. If there were awards for ground manners, she'd win them.
Nattie does not kick, bite, rear, or buck under normal circumstances. The one exception is a back cinch—she strongly dislikes one and may buck if one is used.
She was also introduced to poles earlier in her career and was reportedly quite handy at them, although she has not competed in poles in approximately four years.
Nattie can be difficult to catch when she decides she doesn't want to participate. During a normal week she's easy enough to catch multiple times, but if she suspects a trip is coming or catches on that you're in a hurry, she'll happily test your patience. We've learned that if we know she's headed somewhere, it's easier to keep her up.
Maintenance consists of routine hock injections and management of equine asthma. She currently receives albuterol and dexamethasone through a nebulizer and does well with this program.
Nattie is not for everyone, and that's okay. But for the experienced rider looking for a talented mare with exceptional ground manners, plenty of ability, and a home that values honesty over hype, she may be exactly what you're looking for.
