Rose, a registered Tennessee Walking Horse with a smooth running walk, flat walk, trot, and canter - 15 hands tall. She is a gorgeous, red roan, seventeen years old. Her sire is a world grand champion and hall of fame stallion. She was shown as a two-year old and went on to be a family trail horse doing multi-day camping trips and becoming a brood mare. We are getting her back into shape after several foals and many years off. She is a sweet horse, who comes running to the gate to see us.... (read more) She ground ties and falls asleep on the cross-ties. She's good for the farrier, bathing, and vet. Under saddle, she is quite forward, but in a group of horses, she's happy to lead or follow. She wil go where you ask her to go without any spook or fuss. She does need an intermediate to advanced rider, as she will become anxious with unsure riders. Her mouth is soft and sensitive requiring quiet hands. If you are looking for a friend and trail horse, Rose is your match.

Rose is a gorgeous 15 hand, 17-year-old highly trained, red, roan Tennessee Walking Horse mare. In the sunlight she has a glossy, metallic sheen. She is the sweetest girl and is terrific to handle. Good for vet, farrier, trailers, bathes, ties, etc. She is wonderful at standing and will often fall asleep in cross ties or when ground tied.

Rose also spent some time in her past as a multi-day camping and trail riding horse. This spring she was brought back into work after being a mother and has been slowly returned to the trail riding life, and it’s clear this is her true calling. She is not spooky and goes great in groups or alone. She loves the water and would probably even enjoy deeper water to swim in. She isn't spooky around machines/equipment or on the road and can be led from the side of an ATV. We’ve encountered bears on the trails twice, fairly close, and she’s been rock solid.
This spring she has spent a good amount of time just walking and riding on hills, and she is getting more fit each week. With her improving fitness, she has been showing off her gaits. She does a regular walk, running walk, pace, and trot. She has started to canter in her pasture but isn't yet cantering under saddle. A previous owner tells us that she has a nice canter, and we’re hopeful that we’ll see the canter when she gets even more fit.
Rose is currently in 4 shoes and is sound with or without them. She prefers protection when on hard pack ground or rocks, and she is more stable in her gaits when wearing hind shoes. Rose is not on any maintenance medications. She is on alfalfa pellets, complete senior, and digestive supplements.
Rose gets along great with other horses and is terrific on the trail with other horses. She is more go than whoa. She is not concerned about horses bumping into her or getting too close behind her. She stays calm even if other horses are anxious. She is responsive, with a very soft mouth, and tries her best to please. She can be sensitive to anxious riders and will do best with a calm and quiet intermediate or higher-level rider, who wants a horse that can move right along.
If I had a need for another trail horse, Rose wouldn't even be offered for sale. But I don't have the space for another horse, so she is looking for the best loving home. She comes up to date on vaccines, dental, de-worming, and farrier.
