Vengo- Vengo is a 15.2 hh 8 year old arabianX standardbred. Vengo has spent the last two years in a professional dressage program, and four years trail riding with his owner.
He was initially bred with endurance in mind so he offers 3 comfortable, ground covering gaits. He would be best suited for a confident rider as he is forward thinking and relies on the leadership of his rider/handler. He has been used in select lessons with novice and intermediate riders.... He has no buck or rear, but will shoot forward when he spooks, but never takes more than a few strides to come back to his rider.
Despite his spookiness, he is a phenomenal trail partner that is willing and brave. He will go out alone or with others, lead or caboose. He crosses bridges, snow banks, water, you name it. He’s traveled many terrains from rocky hills to open fields. The only thing that phases this guy off the property is cows, but he gets better every time he sees them. His owner has taken him off property for solo or group trail rides, and (flat) hunter paces. He hauls well and self loads, however he has had loading issues in the past so someone who’s willing to do ground work with him to keep him confident when leaving the herd is necessary.
He is happy to do ring work but he absolutely needs someone willing to take him out of the ring often as well.
He currently wears front shoes due to the amount of trail riding he does. stands well for the farrier, hard ties and bathes.
Vengo is not currently being marketed for a dressage show home due to not accepting a bit. He was sold to us in a hackamore, and after many months of trying every bit you could think of, we ultimately put him back in the hackamore. Despite this, he possesses the balance of a 1st level horse and schools all of 2nd and some 3rd level lateral movements. He confidently schools renver, travers, shoulder in, leg yields and has a green change. We have not put him over arena fences, however he has no issues going over small logs on the trails.
Finding Vengo a loving home is top priority, as he is not for sale due to any fault of his own. His owner is experiencing health issues and has made the extremely difficult decision to step back from ownership.
Vengo is UTD on all vaccines, teeth and coggins. He has had no medical issues during his time with us.
