8 year old grade appendix gelding for sale.
I have owned him since he was a 2 year old.
He is broke to ride but would need finishing for whatever discipline. Good on trail, loves water, loads on trailer good, good for farrier , he has always been barefoot. Rides in a hackamore . All of his ground work and training has been natural horsemanship. Not for a beginner, he will need a confident rider that has experience to finish him out.... (read more) He has a puppy dog personality and loves attention and to get into stuff. Very athletic and I would say higher spirited. He would not be happy stalled or in a small paddock. He needs space to run . Loves his buddies and is the leader in his herd. His only quirk is he is a little uncomfortable with objects with wheels that don’t make noise, bicycles, kids toys, things that roll. He just gets curious and alert and may act a little skittish, same on trail, he will be aware of his surroundings and alert, raised head, try to avoid those things. He just needs more time and consistency. He is very smart and aims to please , I can take him out and pony him on my electric bike and he will be fine with it in 5 minutes. I feel he has tons of potential and will make the right person an excellent partner. I have held onto him in hopes I could do something special but I also have 3 others on the back burner and they have all become more like pasture pets. A good approved home is an absolute must,
I am not in a rush or pressured to sell, my main goal is finding him an excellent home that he can excel in and a partner that will take him down that path correctly. Im not a jumper but when I first got him I watched him clear a round pen panel and just knock his back hoof barely, it impressed me. So I believe he could be a jumper.
