Hickory is a striking 4-year-old, 37-inch blue roan paint gelding with eye-catching color, a kind expression, and all the ingredients to become an exceptional all-around pony in the right hands. He is already broke to ride and drive and has been started on tricks, giving him an excellent foundation for someone who enjoys developing a young pony's full potential. Driving is where Hickory currently shines. He is a confident, dependable driving pony that is comfortable on the road and has proven himself to be traffic safe. He stands well for harnessing, drives willingly, and is suitable for most levels of drivers. His size, flashy appearance, and sensible attitude in harness would make him an outstanding candidate for a school pony, pleasure driving, or even the combined driving world. He genuinely enjoys his job between the shafts and has a bright future as a driving pony.

Under saddle, Hickory has been started correctly but simply needs more experience. He is not being sold as a finished riding pony or one suitable for beginners at this stage. He needs additional riding miles, consistent exposure, and a confident rider who can continue building his education. We believe that with time, patience, and steady training, he has all the potential to develop into a wonderful family riding pony.

It is important to understand that Hickory is a project and is best suited for an experienced horse home. On the ground, he can be watchful and uncertain when first introduced to new people or situations. He benefits from a handler who is confident, fair, and consistent, someone who understands the value of groundwork and can help him build confidence through routine and repetition. Once you begin working with him, he settles in and improves, but he thrives on consistency rather than sporadic handling.

Hickory is not the right pony for a first-time horse owner or someone looking for a finished, polished family pony. He is, however, an outstanding opportunity for an experienced horseman or horsewoman who enjoys bringing along a quality young prospect. His unique blue roan paint coloring, excellent driving foundation, willingness to learn, and natural athletic ability make him well worth the investment of time. The right home will be rewarded with a handsome, versatile pony capable of excelling both in harness and under saddle.
