Álfadís is a nine-year-old chestnut pinto mare, imported from Iceland and standing 14 hands tall. The first thing you notice about her is how absolutely gorgeous she is, with her beautiful conformation, tall stature, striking color, and dramatic long mane and forelock. Álfadís is a true natural tölter who does not particularly care to trot — though she will if you really ask her. But honestly, why would you? Her tölt is easy to find, easy to ride, and clear in beat. She also has a soft canter and a lovely medium amount of energy: happy to go forward, but just as happy to stop and relax.
She has a sweet, people-loving personality and, as her breeder described her, she is your BFF. Álfadís is happy working in the ring, heading out on the trails, or simply spending time with her person. She is well-trained, responsive, and suitable for an advanced beginner on up. She is also perfectly behaved for the vet, farrier, trailering, grooming, bathing, and general handling.
In addition to being a wonderful riding horse, Álfadís is also a proven breeding mare who had a beautiful filly last year. She is by and out of highly evaluated first-prize horses and has excellent bloodlines. In short, she is the total package: beautiful, kind, well-trained, naturally gaited, and easy to love. She could also be bred this summer before going to her new home.
Álfadís is sadly available only because her owner is going through a life change. She is registered with the USIHC, up to date on veterinary care, shows no signs of summer eczema, is easily kept on pasture (no metabolic issues), and is currently located in Mendon, NY.
