2012 Grade Dun QH Gelding ~15.2 h
Colorado Springs, CO
This wonderfully versatile and friendly gelding is up for your consideration due to no fault of his own. Dutton has been with me since Jan. ‘25.
No significant findings at basic PPE/flexions when purchased.
Green o/f, has been jumping for about a year. He picked it up quickly and is very confident. Has been schooling up to ~ 2'3" and has been to one hunter-jumper show where he did the 18" eq off.... (read more) He's never stopped at a jump, always finds a way over even if I set him up with a terrible distance. Goes over solid/spooky fences.
He loves going out on trails, has been cross country schooling and was phenomenal for that. Needs to build consistency in his flat/dressage work but has a solid foundation.
I've roped the dummy and shot .45 cal off him, have video of him pushing cattle.
He's great for vet, farrier, clippers (only ever done his bridle path) and trailering, has solid ground manners. Very cuddly and friendly personality on the ground. Always greets you at the stall door when he sees you arrive. Good manners around food. Not spooky.
He has a lot of energy and heart, super fun to ride once you have him figured out but he would not be suited for a nervous/green rider. Recommended for a confident intermediate rider in a program or an advanced rider. Can be a bit spicy when he's fresh but always has been able to refocus and improve as the ride goes on.
Currently lives in a stall with a small run out, I think he would be much happier in a pasture/larger turnout with friends.
