7/19 Reduced Price: Meet Gunner, a handsome 6 year young grade Bay Roan Quarter Horse gelding with lots of potential and a sweet personality. He is a willing horse with a great work ethic, is not lazy, and is 100% sound. He stands 15.1+ hands. He is kind, attentive, and responds exceptionally well to pressure on the ground.
Gunner is up to date on all vaccines and records will be provided. He is up to date on coggins but due in the end of July.... (read more) He has had his teeth floated in the last 2 months. He stands great for the farrier and he is barefoot receiving trims every 6-8 weeks. Loads and unloads without problem. Currently on pasture and maintenance feed with GutX 1x daily to prevent ulcer flare ups.
Gunner has been well desensitized to tarps, bags, ropes and is not a spooky horse. He is high in the pecking order and can become protective of mares in the field. Currently in a mixed herd. He is the first to greet you and will even lay his head on your shoulder.
Due to a recent bout of ulcers, Gunner developed anxiety and some defensive behaviors under saddle. While the ulcers have been resolved and he has shown significant improvement, he has lost confidence and would benefit from a knowledgeable rider or trainer addressing his trauma responses to help rebuild his trust and refresh his under-saddle work. We are keeping his groundwork skills fresh and working him 5-6 days a week in the arena. He is not currently able to be ridden, he will bolt and buck if mounted. Have videos. He has all of the ingredients to become a wonderful partner with the right person. He previously shined in all areas of western pleasure riding and showed great potential for barrels and reigning.
Unfortunately, I do not have the time or the knowledge needed to continue his training.
