Shax is an absolutely stunning 9 year old 17.2hh spotted draft gelding with massive presence, personality, and looks to make your heart throb. He has a giant puppy dog personality and is so sweet. He is broke to ride and drive single and double. Unlike most other drafts, Shax is forward under saddle and moves out very easily when asked. He offers three smooth, balanced gaits with easy transitions. He stands great for mounting and dismounting. He covers serious ground quickly with how long his legs and strides are.... (read more) He is an absolute powerhouse. He has been in water up to his knees, will ride out alone or with others but he does better overall with a friend. He knows his verbal commands for driving. He could go in many directions. Lounge videos are the first time he had ever been on a lounge line to video some of his gates for sale purposes and he picked up the basics right away. Very smart and willing to please. He loves attention and affection, he will follow you along the fence line and come up to say hi every time you are near. Oh boy does he love his food. He will eat you out of house and home if you let him. He likes to tuck you under his chin to cuddle and use your head as a headrest for himself. Easy keeper with no maintenance needed. He is barefoot all around and has great feet. He is not buddy sour, won’t crib and does not pull you back to the barn.
Although he is an absolute powerhouse, he is very mellow in the paddock, will not test fencing or push on fencing whether it is wood or electric. He does great in a herd and with other horses. He is more towards the bottom aspect of the pecking order but he will push very bottom of the totem pole horses off the hay or grain very mildly (he is with the lowest horse on the totem pole I’ve ever met currently lol). He does not bite or kick, he will pin his ears back only to try to steal all the food. My one year old colt bullies this huge baby of a draft however ? so he by no means will put up any kind of a fuss once he meets resistance. While snuggling, watch your toes. He is an absolute numbnuts with paying attention to where his big old feet are while going in for a booty scratch and he claims zero percent responsibility for stepping on your tootsie. He is easy to lead on a line and does not pull you, will load on a trailer easily. He stands easily in cross ties or single tie. He picks up all four feet without being medicated and without stocks, stands well for farrier. He is great on the ground to tack and easily takes a bit and will not raise his head up. He stands like an absolute gentleman patiently while tacking up for driving as well which usually takes quite some time to completely tack him. He is comfortable around traffic, being around farm equipment, ATVs and dogs, he frequently rides out with Atvs without other horses as well.
He will be recently utd on deworming (5/31/26) spring shots (6/3) coggins (6/3) and farrier (6/12) and be ready to go.
Because of his size, power and forwardness under saddle for such a powerhouse of a horse, an intermediate rider is recommended.
