Emma is an 11-year-old Thoroughbred mare looking for a wonderful new home due solely to our family's upcoming relocation from Vermont to North Carolina. Excellent home is more important than price.

Emma has been a beloved member of our family and has been owned and ridden by my daughter. She is a sweet mare who enjoys attention, grooming, and spending time with her people. She has received routine veterinary, dental, farrier, and preventative care throughout our ownership.... (read more)

Emma has bilateral hock arthritis that is maintained with injections approximately every six months. She is currently best suited for flatwork, trails, pleasure riding, and lower-level hunters/jumpers (approximately 2'–2'3"), where she has proven to be a willing and enjoyable partner.

Prior to coming to us, Emma was introduced to western riding and barrel racing. While most of her experience with us has been in English disciplines, she has shown herself to be a versatile mare.

Emma would likely do best in a quieter turnout environment with compatible companions. She is comfortable being turned out alone or with a buddy and has successfully lived with both mares and geldings.

This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family. Our primary goal is finding Emma a safe, knowledgeable, and loving home where she can continue to receive the care and attention she deserves.

She has received routine veterinary, dental, farrier, and preventative care throughout our ownership, and we have consistently followed our veterinarian's recommendations regarding her hock maintenance and overall care. Unfortunately, our family is relocating from Vermont to North Carolina this summer.
