Looking for your fantasy horse?
Star Dust is one in a million with her gorgeous baroque movement, easy-going demeanor, and super-lux HYPOALLERGENIC curly coat. The natural ringlets in her mane stop people in their tracks and they can't resist running their fingers through her hair.
She is a registered Bashkir Curly and is a true FEW-SPOT APPALOOSA with the 3 tradmark breed characteristics: she was born white with very few spots (she's not grey) and speckled skin, she has striped hooves, and a white sclera which gives her eyes a 'human' trait.... (read more)
She has a thick baroque stature, elegant curvature of the neck, and graceful movement. She's been kept barefoot with ultra-strong feet that leaves her looking like she's always just seen the farrier.
Before we had her, she was a trail horse for a woman in her 70's and it's easy to see why; she'll walk calmly, but happily trots off with a squeeze of the knees, and best of all ... she is as still as a statue when mounting. She's got a great stop, side-passes like a pro, and backs just as easily as she moves forward. She is easy to ride but will need an intermediate+ rider if you want to lope her off because she's much happier at a walk and trot. If you're looking for an easy-going trail partner and companion - she's just right for you.
On the ground she's an angel; she lunges on a line or in the ring, lifts all 4 feet, stands tied for hours, trailers like a dream, and bathes like its spa day.
In the pasture, she'll follow you if you're around - otherwise she enjoys taking a daily dip in the pond and would stay fat on air. She is completely comfortable with dogs and does well with other horses.
This girl is not marish and boasts an even temperament that will be the same day-to-day.
She is registered as 'Wyoming Star Dust' with the American Bashkir Curly Registry, out of Wyoming Free Spirit on the top side, and Mac's Ginger on the bottom side. She is a 'few-spot' white Appaloosa with LP mottling around her eyes and nose. She would make an excellent brood mare, but we do not have signed transfer on her papers; but this should not matter with a Bashkir Curly.
I've had her since last summer and work with her regularly, including clicker training. She was completely and very well broke when I got her, but I've had a lot of fun teaching her positive reinforcement with treats and hand cues. She happily follows my instruction with or without a halter and is gentle and patient when working for her treats, doing a great job respecting my space but staying engaged and 'ready to win the next prize'. Her adopter will receive 3 free lessons to learn how to reinforce the training she has had, with instruction on both operant and classical conditioning. She is trained to move into position by following my hand with 'touch' and will 'catch herself' by crossing the pasture to put her nose directly and willingly into the halter all on her own.
Trailering is available and a PPE is encouraged. She comes with a 30-day health guarantee, offering a 100% refund if she was adopted unsound. In addition, I will offer a 14-day-return-for-any-reason agreement if she isn't the perfect horse for you. Finding the RIGHT home is important to me. Ask for an agreement so you can read the details.

Angel Ranch Stables
Each of our horses are clicker trained so they seek engagement with their human partner. They are not threatened or hurt in the training process, but rather, they are given the time to discover what we are asking through LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) training principles. To start the journey, each horse is taught to 'catch themselves' by crossing the pasture on their own to willingly place their nose into the halter.... (read more) They are taught to back up to win a treat, instead of retreating out of fear; they learn to respond to the slightest touch of the reign or lead rope; and they learn to stand quietly and patiently whether their human is on the ground or in the saddle.
As socially intelligent and emotional creatures, horses inherently crave relationships. At Angel Ranch Stables, we make it our goal to find the right person for the right horse. With decades of experience in temperament testing, we are able to identify animals that are gentle and kind. When a horse is adopted into our program, we medically screen them with our experienced veterinarians, and give them months to years of training in a safe and peaceful setting, before we find their perfect human match.
Because we spend 200-600 hours training each horse, we know their character and personality well enough to identify their perfect, forever home. We are so confident our adopters will adore their horse, we offer a buy-back guarantee for the LIFE OF THE HORSE.
