"Poppy" is a 3 year old, green broke, 15hh bay registerable percheron draft cross. She can be registered through the American Draft Cross Registery. She has papers showing her dna results. Her dam is an 1/8 percheron, and quarter horse cross that stands around 15.3hh. Her sire is full percheron, standing at 18hh. Poppy is 7/8 percheron.
Poppy has a puppy dog personality and will follow you around like one. She is the first to meet you at the gate.... (read more) She puts her head down to be haltered. She is a super easy keeper, on an all forage based diet with a mineral balancer. Poppy is extremely smart, willing, and gentle despite her size and nothing seems to bother her.
Poppy has had groundwork training and then she spent 30 days in March at a professional trainer where she was taught to ground drive and started under saddle. She continues to be ridden by me weekly. Im also working with her on desensitization. She currently rides in a full cheek dogbone snaffle. The trainer doted on how quickly she took to the saddle and rider. She walks, trots, and canters with ease and is smooth to ride. She also backs as well. You can even jump on her bareback. She stands at the mounting block for her rider and stands cross tied. She has gone to camp for a whole weekend and will stand tied to the trailer. She will cross downed trees and even crosses water as well. I plan to take her to some local saddle club shows before she sells. She leads, loads, stands tied patiently, picks up all four hooves when asked, and is good for the farrier trims. She is not shod and rides barefoot. She had her hooves trimmed on 5/5/26 and will have a fresh set of shots and coggins done before she goes to her new home. Ppe is welcomed at buyers expense. Poppy would excel in any discipline, she is very calm and level headed. I had personal plans to also teach her to drive and pull a wagon, however my life circumstances have changed and I unfortunately cannot keep her, but she will be one ill regret having to lose.
