Meet Greylyn:
She is an 8/9 year old pony mare. I am listing her as a PROJECT PONY! Greylyn can be SPOOKY, which is why I want to emphasize PROJECT. Don’t get me wrong, with people she’s as sweet is it comes and loves attention (cuddles and pets). She’s come a long way with me. Great with verbal cues too…she can lunge with solely being told walk, trot, canter, and woah (which for her means come to me/ the center and stop).... (read more) Stands perfectly still for a trim with the farrier (obviously barefoot) and has great/ solid hooves. She’s a champ with the vet and doesn’t mind annual work (teeth, shots, etc.). All vaccines and coggins (negative) were done in late March 2026.
She’s good with other mares and geldings. She’s currently in a mixed herd. She’s not top of the herd pack, but also not at the bottom. She usually doesn’t start anything/ keeps to herself, but if provoked she will defend herself. But doesn’t last long and then all buddy buddy.
She is more green (and more go than woah) than I want and think she needs solid work with a CONFIDENT and CONSISTENT trainer and/or rider. I’ve ridden her under saddle, but it’s been a while. The last western trainer I worked with did great with her, still spooky under saddle, but she got out of it quickly when worked through it correctly. Although, I had to discontinue training due to how expensive it can be. Would love to throw her in a 60-90 day program, but not feasible for me. She can go English or Western.
Seeking a more seasoned horse (not old). Mainly because I have a genetic back condition and since surgery, by back has not been the same, and I physically need a horse or pony with some miles on them. I know horses can be unpredictable in general, but a ride that’s overall more reliable and consistent for me. Willing to trade or buy.
