He has experience barrel racing, some dabbling with roping, and grew up on the coast riding, leading trails rides.
He Ponies other horses and hauls great. Loads right up- no set back.
I have had little kids on him via headline, he loves littles. I have had intermediate lesson kids on him at a W/T/C. He enjoys this as well.
He does not enjoy a ruff hand with whips and spurs and will indefinitely turn into a reactive/spooky horse if this is done to him. Like most horses that arnt shut down completely.
He lunges in the round pen like a professional- VERY little pressure to ask him to do anything.
He will drop his head for a halter and bit if asked calm assertively.
He is watchy and takes a minute to warm up to you until fully settled. Typical appy personality. Very respectful of his feet/space and can be a little concerned when lifting saddle to saddle but stands quiet. ( I am 5’2” and have to really swing it up there. He just kind of flinches but no set back or rear or anything stupid )
Respects other mares or geldings and is not the alpha. He will bond heavily to a mare if you have one and let her lead.
Cherokee can clear a 4’ jump easily. I have never jumped him purposely, but I bet he would thrive eventing or just playing with jumps at home.
This horse can do it all. He just needs the right rider. He bonds to his rider after trust is built- he would walk off a cliff for you.
He does best with a daily routine of handling. He is a pure athlete. I believe he will gain more spots as he ages, as he has more spots coming in each season.
Open to offers for the right working home.
