Stabled in Northern NJ (Sussex). Retrained as a jumper; tremendous power and a gentle giant. Can jump a car if you want, and is safe enough to give a 5 year old a lesson (and does). He can go out in English and Western tack, and usually is ridden English. Same horse on property and off. He trailers super easy; self loads, and quiet in tow.
Healthy, sound (only 7 races), OTD shots/worm, 4 shoes and could go without hinds, in work as part of our lesson program working with children (as young as 5) and adults (beginner - advanced), Would make a great horse for someone looking to show, jump, paces (he loves) pleasure ride and just have fun.... (read more) He is a FUN horse. Has a bit of a stronger hand over jumps. Currently working to soften.
Personality - bold, fun, eager to please/work and happy.
Can do stall or turnout- prefers turnout. Goes out with 7 other geldings but is great with mares too. He is the alpha but not a jerk about it.
PPE - yes. Demo ride available on site in ring, round pen and trails.
Ground work/pony rides anyone can get on his back. He minds very well.
Show - hasn’t yet, but plenty of potential there. Very smart horse, eager to please, exceptionally trainable.
What skills does Spirit have? Well he has a - beautiful W/T/C, back up, jumps highest he’s been 3’3 but that is a reflection of me as a rider, not his potential. Definitely can do way higher if that is wanted. Hasn’t shown with me but if that’s your style I’m sure he will do very good in the shower/jumping ring. Has done dressage, stands for mounting block, trail rides, lessons, water crossings, very willing and confident. If you lean up too much over a jump he will always have your back and keep you in the saddle. Spirit will ride out alone or in a group. He has been desensitized to all sorts of things such as - cows, goats, dogs, banging stuff (we live next to a quarry) tractors, balloons, hula hoops, pool noodles. You name it he’s a good boy. We are very hands on with our horses.
Fun facts about spirit- always happy and pleases, forgiving, would jump a car if asked to but very safe. Very good listener, gentle with kids/babies. Shares bloodlines with Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Native Dancer (some of my favs).
