14.2h AQHA Red Roan | Gentle | Family Safe | Ranch Sorting
Meet Ducky, a 14.2h red roan mare with the kind of steady, dependable mind everyone searches for and very few actually find.
She is by NCHA earner CD Dancing CAT by an own daughter of Bet He’s A Cat ($272,151 NCHA). Ducky has high-caliber cow horse bloodlines, but her greatest asset is her temperament. Don’t let her age fool you, she is extremely reliable, mellow, broke, and honest.... (read more)
Ducky has had almost a year of ranch sorting training and has some earnings. She is naturally cowy with a big stop and cute rollback. She enjoys working cattle but stays level-headed and quiet. She is more “whoa” than “go” and does not get hot.
Experience:
Has been trail ridden on long weekend trips with large groups
Crosses creeks, logs, and objects on the trail confidently
Gone through tarps, teeter totters, flags, and obstacles
Rides bareback in a halter
Been ridden at night
Been ridden through Halloween decorations and inflatables in a campground in the dark
Had a rope swung off of her
Jumped crossrails in English tack
Familiar with dogs, tractors, atvs and other machinery
Been ridden by timid children as young as 7
Experience riding with traffic
Under saddle:
She will ride out alone and is not barn or buddy sour
She is not spooky and does not have big reactions
She does not have to be ridden every day to stay safe
Level-headed and the same every ride
Ducky has perfect ground manners:
Stands tied quietly
Stands to mount (with or without mounting block)
Gentle and respectful
Easy keeper
Barefoot and sound (she has never taken a lame step).
Does not require any special maintenance
Acts like a gelding. No squealing, ear pinning, or stereotypical mare attitude. She gets along with other horses.
Easy to load and haul
She comes running to you from the field and puts her face in the halter. She has never been hard to catch
She has been ridden by my 11-year-old and 6-year-old and is forgiving and confidence-building. She would be ideal for a family horse, youth rider, 4H, playdays, to continue ranch sorting, trail riding, or someone who simply wants something safe and enjoyable.
The only reason she is offered is personal preference. I absolutely adore this horse and wish I could keep her, but I personally prefer a more forward, hotter horse for myself.
I have owned her since she was a long yearling. She was started here as a 2-year-old, then went into full-time training. Since coming home, she has had consistent outside miles, hauling, and real-life exposure. She has never been passed around or traded.
The only reason she is offered is personal preference. I genuinely adore this mare, but I prefer a more forward, hotter type for myself. She deserves a home that values her steady, quiet nature.
She is safe, sane, versatile, well-bred, and flashy. She truly checks the boxes.
Serious inquiries only. She will go to the right home.
