If a bay with chrome is your kryptonite, meet your match – the one and only Bilbo!
This 5-year-old AQHA/APHA registered gelding stands 14.... (read more) 2 hands and is by Lopin My Best, out of a Certain Potential / Zippos Mr Good Bar mare. Handsome, kind, and endlessly personable, Bilbo has that irresistible “puppy-dog” personality the ladies just adore!
Bilbo is the definition of tried and true. His movement is nothing short of dreamy — a slow, steady jog you can drop your reins on, and a smooth, rhythmic canter that feels like a Cadillac. He’s soft in the bridle, light to the aids, and exceptionally broke — you won’t find one easier or more comfortable to ride. Youth and old lady safe - this one you can count on!
Honest and reliable, Bilbo is as straightforward as they come — he has never offered to buck, rear, and has zero attitude. He is a stall to arena kinda guy, no prep needed. He’s been shown locally and makes an ideal all-around mount for a youth or amateur rider. Bilbo is versatile enough to shine in English, Western, or Ranch classes— and is just as happy cruising down the trail.
He’s seen the sights — bridges, water crossings, fallen logs — and handles it all with quiet confidence. He’s pushed cattle at local roping practices, checked fences, and never gets in a hurry. Easy to catch, willing to please, and sweet as they come — Bilbo truly has that golden retriever disposition everyone wants in a gelding.
Homegrown and breeder-owned before joining our program this summer, Bilbo is the kind of horse that makes you fall in love with riding all over again. Some lucky youth, amateur, or old lady is going to be smitten with him. Bilbo is always on his best behavior, not only is he friendly on the ground but he is kind to others in the field. I recently used him to babysit the freshly weaned babies in the pasture – and he was patient and quiet with them. He stands tied, great for vet/farrier, respectful in a stall, loads/unloads, and hauls off property like a seasoned pro.
Purchase with confidence! Bilbo comes with a recent pre-sale veterinary exam and full set of radiographs on file. He sells 100% sound and is up to date on dental, farrier, Coggins, and all care. All paperwork is in order, and will be signed between buyer and seller at the conclusion of the sale. Shipping can be easily arranged to any location.
Safe, sound, sweet — and as dependable as they come. Bilbo is truly the kind of gelding everyone’s looking for but few ever find.
