Do you love surprises and the thrill of the unknown? Maybe you like to gamble? Perhaps you just have to take advantage of a good BOGO deal? Meet Luna! She’s a 4 year old, 15 hand Friesian/Morgan mare, in foal to “We don’t know”, due…well, sometime before April. Luna was purchased in the spring from a dealer, who’d gotten her from some Amish in PA not long before that (where she’d been a driving horse). Said dealer had one of his riders get her started under saddle before reselling her to her current owner, who had plans to have her trained further and then sell her again.... (read more) But…she kept getting fatter…and fatter…and we kept cutting back her grain…until we realized there might be something amiss. Recent bloodwork repeated 30 days apart confirmed that she is in foal, and the most info we could get about the possible baby daddy is that those particular Amish folks breed a lot of Morgan crosses but also have a Percheron stallion…so, flip a coin? Pre maternity leave, Luna was going solidly walk trot and was learning to canter under saddle. She’s a nice quality mare with a great brain- we haven’t found anything yet that spooks her, and she’s extremely personable and very well mannered. She’s comfortable to ride and will be a straightforward project once she’s done playing mom, and despite her lack of height, she takes up leg very well; rider in the indoor portion of the video is 5’7”. Luna is great for the farrier, vet, trailering, etc. If you’re interested in taking her home and starting a betting pool on the appearance of her impending spawn, she’s priced to move…owner is not set up for a cold-weather foal and is motivated to get her into her new home soon.
