"Spike" - 2yo ~14hh titled mustang gelding from Augusta Mountains, NV

Spike is one (of three) of my 2025 competition mustangs and will be competing at the Nebraska State Fair at the end of August (draws in 5x as many people as the Midwest Horse Fair!). Following the competition, he will be looking for his forever home, but shoot me a message if you'd like to meet him before then, as I'd love to get a home lined up!... (read more) Spike has gone off property a couple times so far (once to a 4H ride night, once to the vet, and will likely be heading to a show either this weekend or next) and does great; he will continue getting hauled to shows, clinics, fairs, etc. leading up to our competition, so will quite a bit of exposure! Though Spike is young, he is very laid back, and picks ups on things pretty quickly. With less than 2 months of training, he has the following skills (with a few more weeks to go):
-Leads w/t at shoulder, stops, and backs softly
-Pivots on/yields hind and fore quarters (still a bit of a work in progress, but doing super well)
-Loads and unloads (I use a stock trailer, so he has only been loose hauled, but I have closed him in a slant a couple times just for a few minutes, and he did great)
-Stands tied
-Stands for baths, fly spray, grooming, picking feet, etc.
-Good for vet and farrier
-Lunges w/t both directions
-Has been ponied a couple of times and did great
-Has been sat on once, and he didn't care on bit
-And again, we have a few more weeks of training, so he will continue learning and getting exposed to more new things!

Spike is an easy keeper, but not the typical mustang who gets overly "fluffy" and needs to be carefully dieted. He is on free choice hay (no net, as his "brother" does better without it) and has been holding a great weight. He has 24/7 turnout in electric fence with another 2yo gelding (Scout, who is also posted on here), but I think he'd be fine in any herd, with horses of any ages/genders. Spike is an in-your-pocket type of horse, who loves attention, and everybody he meets. Everyone who has met him loves him, and his adorable hair! He is looking for a home who has at least one other horse, so he won't be alone.

Asking $2,000 and may be open to offers to the perfect home (price may be adjusted up or down, depending on training when he leaves for his new home). Located in Blanchardville, WI (40 minutes south of Madison), and delivery is available depending on location (generally $0.25-$0.50 a mile, as we prefer to deliver and see where they are going), or can be picked up from the Nebraska State Fair on Saturday, August 23. He is looking for his forever family, not somewhere that he will be flipped for a profit. Spike is UTD on all cares- vaccines and coggins (both done on July 28), fecal egg count (done on July 23, with egg count of zero so does not need to be rechecked until next spring), chiropractic (done of July 28), has had feet trimmed once (done on June 28), and will see the farrier again on August 12. Shipping Notes

Delivery available depending on location for VERY discounted fee of $0.25-$0.50 per mile as we like to see where they are going. Can also be picked up at the Nebraska State Fair on Saturday, August 23, following our final class/awards, or in Des Moines, Iowa on the morning of Sunday, August 24.
