Who's looking for a fun trail horse?!
Say hello to Ruger, a stunning 7-year old red dun Quarter Horse gelding standing right around 14.3hands.
Perfect for a rider that doesn't want a super tall horse to have fun on!
This guy is totally unphased out on the trail & loves to ride out and about!
Not a spooky ride & rides out easy!
Hes been used in some ranch work & rode around cows, checked fences & doesnt mind an honest days work.... (read more)
He's got a good stop, & goes into his gaits without alot of work, so you won't wear yourself out to keep him moving, he doesn't take a ton of leg & is mindful.
We've been riding him in the arena twice a week & then hitting the trails once a week & he always rides the same, no nastiness, buck or bolt in this guy. He can take the occasion half halt at the trot to keep the pace you want. Not a fancy broke horse with a ton of buttons, but he rides!
He will go english or western but we typically ride english here, you could take him whatever direction you want & add those finishing touches.
Id say he would be best suited for an advanced beginner rider (or better) since he could use a little finishing, but easy enough for an adult amateur or teenager.
When i trail ride him i can ride pretty loosely & he doesn't give me a hard time, hes pretty easy!
If you want to enjoy the trails then this is your guy!
I've also popped him over a few small crossrails & he didnt bat an eye, still needs to work more with jumping if thats the direction you want to go, cause hes pretty green in that department, but he could make a cute jumper in time!
When riding down the road once a truck came flying by & Ruger just ever so calmly listened to me & stepped off the road & into the ditch & patiently waited for the truck to pass us by, he was a real gentleman.
Doesnt mind mud, goats, dogs, cows or other animals, carries himself calmly no matter the situation. He could easily dabble into the western world more & make a fun cow mount.
Barefoot with good solid feet, stands quietly to be mounted at the block or off the ground too. Enjoys being pampered & doted on in the barn, stands quiet to be tacked & groomed. Pops right up into the trailer as he should! Just a good boy!
Take this guy home & enjoy hitting the trails!
