Gorgeous Haflinger gelding for consideration to be your next sure footed trail partner. CJ is 13 years old, 13.2 hands of height.

He’s extremely sure footed in the hills, on and off the trail, fearlessly approaches trail obstacles living up to his name. I have rode him through three feet of dry Idaho snow, without troubles.

His tough bare feet enable him to walk on most trails without boots and if it gets too rocky he just looks for a softer path on the side, loves bathes, ties very well, loads well, goes through water, walks right to the mounting block, does not spook when trapped.... (read more)

He’s got great confirmation, won his halter class at our county fair against very well bred Welsh ponies.

I’d love for him to have his very own person, a better match than me, who loves him, not just for his looks, but for the horse he is and who can develop his full potential.

I have ridden him English as well as on a long rein out on the trail. CJ has a soft mouth and responds well to leg cues. I have ridden him out on the trail by himself as well as in big groups. He’s got more woah than go and is sensitive to the riders energy. He loves a good gallop up the hill but is easy to slow back down, does not rush home afterwards!

To be able to show him better to potential new owners he is at Performance Horse Arena in Grants Pass right now, getting a 30 day refresher with me riding under Tom’s knowledgeable eyes and is exceeding everyone’s expectations, adjusting calmly to the new environment and excelling on obstacles. He’s getting some more cattle exposure as well.

I have only long reined him once and have no experience in driving myself but he seemed to really enjoy it and did very well. I was easily able to handle and turn him in walk and trot. We have pulled some logs with him and he did great with that also.

As a typical Haflinger he does better with a confident rider and should not go on green pasture. He loves the snow. He lives on a track system with his herd at home. He’s very very low maintenance, does great on all he can eat low sugar hay.

He does amazing picking up his very tough feet even though he’s never worn shoes. He has no health issues and very young legs. He has never been rode hard, gamed off of etc. I expect him to be healthy to ride close to turning 30.
