Sugar N Pep (Barn name: Callista) is a beautiful 13-year-old paint mare. I have only had Callista for a couple of years. I purchased her from a stockyard in Texas so I don’t know her full back history other then she came from a ranch in Oklahoma. I bought her as a companion horse for my yearling and was thinking about breeding her if my circumstances allowed it. However, I changed careers recently and I now travel half the year, making it hard to give her the proper attention she needs.... (read more) She has been started under saddle but is still VERY green, so she is not a kid or amateur prospect. She does take a saddle and a hackamore bridle without any issues (learning to take a bit). Callista is a very intelligent horse who will bond with her handler once trust is established. She has a great amount of energy and a great pedigree, coming from being bred for ranch work. I have no doubt that with the proper time and training, she will make someone a great ranch/trail mount, or if you aren't looking for a riding horse, she will make a good pasture companion or broodmare for someone looking for a mare with color. She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has a clean bill of health, catches and loads easily in a horse trailer. Not great yet with picking up her feet so she will need a gentle and patient farrier, however, I am currently working with her on this now. She is registered (see photos), but I have not yet put her papers in my name. If she does not sell by May 1, 2025, I will be starting her training again, so as her training progresses so will her price.
