Starla is a Well Educated 9 year old 13.3 hand Molly mule. She is located in Southern California. Starla has miles of trail experience and has been hauled all over for rides, in the hills near her home in California, and in Texas and Arkansas where she previously lived, desert and forests, across highways, all around Joshua Tree at Black Rock, camping in Big Meadows Sequoia National Forest.
Starla easily goes through water, down steep banks, and up hills.... (read more) She picks up both leads nicely and lopes off with ease. She recently went to Mule Days in Bishop CA, and was ridden there. Starla has done it all and does it well. She goes out alone or in a group, leader or follower. She’s calm, steady, and quiet. She's soft in the bridle and is responsive to seat, leg, and neckrein.
Upon her purchase from Texas in 2021, Starla received 9 months of training with Jerry Tindell and his wife Jana. Starla traveled with them to Jerry's clinics and was used as one of his demo stock. Upon Starla leaving training with the Tindells, she has been regularly maintained by a local trainer on a weekly basis.
With her previous owner, Starla did AHCA obstacle challenges in Texas and Arkansas. She competed in Green 1 and In Hand 1 as a 4/5 year old and has a lifetime registration under the name “BCM KimmieSue”. Starla can go in any direction with her new owner! She can be ridden by a rider of any level. However, a confident rider is recommended. I prefer her next owner to be an experienced mule person. Starla loves a confident boss to show her where to go. She is soft and supple. She is affectionate with people, easy to catch and handle, good with her ears, and best of all, not spooky.
Starla is great with dogs, loose dogs on the trail, or dogs behind fences and gates. Jerry pulled logs with her, and she has been exposed to cattle. Starla has a good eye to track. Starla loads in the trailer quickly, is quiet when tied, and stands well for the farrier. She likes bathing, crosses water, bridges, does both man-made obstacles, and out on the trail obstacles. She is shod on her front feet. No bolt, buck, or rear! SAFE!
I am listing Starla for sale, no fault of hers, simply due to my busy schedule. I would love to see her go out on camping trips and be used regularly and often. Starla is currently located in Morongo Valley, CA. She is UTD on shots and floats. Mules like Starla are very hard to find. She has a good mind, soft eye, smart and cooperative. Both Jerry and Jana Tindell are available to ask questions via phone. She's had only two owners, Monica, who started her and myself, who sent her to Jerry Tindell to further her education.
Starla is a true gem and one of those mules that are rare in personality, skill, willingness, and smarts!
(Comes from Quarter Horse Mare for those that want to know).
She is NOT GAITED.
