Meet Whisky, a 5-year-old BLM titled Mustang. HMA is palamino valley NV. Whisky has been a joy to train. she has had about 60 rides under saddle and a few bareback. She rides with a bridle very well but she seems not to like wearing it and rides like a champ in a hackamore! She's got a good head on her and is very laid back, ready for you to put some miles on her.
I have done a lot of endurance courses with her and she has never even lost footing once!... (read more) She's as surefooted as a mule, and fearless too. Will go through water, up steep creeks, over tree limbs and roots. She has the endurance to work in rough terrain for miles and would make a great roughed country trail horse.
Whisky lives to please, she’s mastered all the ground work exercises, she stands to have her hooves picked, loves baths, easy to catch, groom, you can stand on her, jump off her rump onto the ground, crawl under her, wrap a tarp around her, throw a rope on her, this girl is ready to go in any direction you point her in. I would not say she's kid-safe yet because she has not had very much experience, but I have done lunge line sessions with my 10-year-old sister, and she does great! She will walk, trot, and lope by voice command.
It will probably take her a few days to warm up to a new owner because I have been the only one to ever work with her. But with a little time (and lots of treats) she will warm right up to you. Whisky is utd on all her vaccines and will come with a negative coggins. Whisky loads in the trailer by herself and backs out with no problem. She has been to the vet but other than that Whisky has been mainly ridden at my ranch, but with a slow introduction she does great in new environments!
Whisky is definitely the dominant mare in the pasture so I would keep that in mind if she will be living with other horses. Bring home an iconic piece of American heritage. Looking for her forever home.
