Ultimate trail horse with his easy going temperament, willingness to please, and smooth gaits. He is the perfect companion to go exploring on. He will lead or follow and is fine with riding out alone as well. Ridden on all kinds of trails, sure footed, no problem crossing water and wooden bridges. He is also an outstanding bareback ride. Ridden in a simple hackamore, sidepull or even a halter and lead rope he is very easy to rate and respectful. He has a nice neck rein or will direct rein if you prefer.... (read more) Ridden both western and english and bareback, an uncomplicated eager to please ride. Not spooky by nature more bold and curious.
He is not registered but was DNA tested and came back as Icelandic and Rocky Mountain. His is a solid 15.1 hands and he can take up some leg so fine for taller/larger riders as well. He does have a beautiful thick long mane when he has not rubbed most of it off by reaching through the wooden fencing to graze.
He can walk, jog/trot, lope/canter, gallop, and he is gaited and has a lovely slow gait and a really nice ground covering effortless faster gait as well, he has a wonderful consistent tolt that is super comfortable, and his lope/canter is very collected and easy to sit to. All of his gaits are very smooth. You can gallop up a hill and then walk off on a loose rein or stand quietly without fidgeting. He is happy to just meander down the trail if you are in a more laid back type of mood or can step it up to a faster gait if you prefer. He has an easy going laid back personality and is good for any level rider. Beginner friendly.
Very good stable manners great to tack up, fly spray, bathe, good for farrier, stands still to mount and dismount. He stands tied patiently and will tie to anything. Loads and trailers willingly and quietly. When trailered out to new areas he will unload and tie off just as sensible and relaxed as if he was at home. We have taken him on overnight camping trips and he was excellent. He is fine to high line overnight or tie to a hitching rail. He is turned out with both mares and geldings. Good around cattle and dogs.
Dorado loves attention and has a sweet and mischievous personality (he is after all only six years old) he is a real character and loves to ham it up. He is a young, beautiful, loving, gelding the whole family will enjoy for years to come. Ready to hit the trails with his new partner, great home a must! My main concern is finding the right match and home for Dorado, someone who can really appreciate all he has to offer. He really is a super nice gelding with an unbeatable temperament and personality.
