Looking to rehome “Jackism” (Jack) , a 2015 OTTB gelding (has a race microchip). He is being sold at no fault of his own, I just don’t have the time to give him the training and attention he needs. He is a handsome good boy with a lot of potential. He has been out to pasture most of the year I have owned him. He walks well on a lead, stands for farrier (can be a little stubborn to lift his feet), stands at mounting block. For 2 months he has been restarted by a trainer in Liberty/ground work, has had a saddle on and been ridden minimally (have pics and videos) with no buck or rear.... (read more) Jack is not spooky and is overall chill and sweet, but he can be stubborn. He has a small left knee chronic hygroma. We have been told by our Vet this does not affect soundness, but I would only recommend him for light/lower level riding, ground work, and of course he can be a pasture buddy.
A trainer-home or someone with experience with OTTBs would be the best home for Jack. Although in training, he is still considered a project/restart. Due to his training needs, he is not suitable for a beginner rider/ handler.
Jack is very used to being around other animals such as donkeys, chickens, & dogs and they do not faze him. He is currently barefoot, NO cribbing, He can be a little evasive at times when trying to halter him in pasture (patience and a slow approach do the trick), leads well, will stand at cross-ties, can be stubborn and a little grumpy to start, but will settle in and has already come a long way in his ground-work training. Vaccines, farrier care, and Neg coggins test are all up to date.
