** VIDEO AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST! SHE RIDES WELL!**
Looking for your next trail partner and best friend? Well look no further! Sweet Angel came to us in poor shape and she has gained so much weight from our refeeding program. She is still in the process of gaining weight back and could use some more on her topline, but she is steadily getting there. Angel is one of those horses that you can just grab from the pasture, get your saddle and hit the road on!... (read more) Angel will gladly walk in any direction you point her. We gladly take her on trail rides out here to enjoy her before she gets to her forever home! She won't hesitate to cross the bridge or tarp out here and we love that about her. Angel has very smooth gaits and can ride at the W/T/L though she tends to want to stay on the lazier side of things. We have just begun retraining Angel after she has sat for close to a year in her prior home, so she is still knocking off a bit of rust.
That being said, Angel could use a good mentor to help her remember some things. Angel knows how to stand ties but could use a little work on patience. She could use a little more work on picking up her feet better and getting softer in the face while under saddle (flexing, stopping, backing better). Angel stands very well to be groomed, fly sprayed, etc. She stands nicely for you while you are tacking her up and while you are getting on.
Angel does have fecal water syndrome and is managing it better on the medication we are giving her. When adopting Angel you will recieve the rest of the medication that she currently has here at Nexus. Mainly, her hind legs can get fairly messy and rubbed raw but keeping them as clean as we can has done wonders for it. Don't let that stop you though, she is definitely worth a little extra care!
Nexus Equine
We believe there are times when horses find themselves in at-risk situations and need outside support and resources. Quite often, these are younger healthier horses who have a great potential for a second career or new chapter in their lives. Nexus provides assessment and training to every horse in our adoption program. As a result, all horses have a specific individually designed program that promotes the highest potential of each horse.... (read more)
The final step in our adoption process is matching the right person with the right horse, creating positive outcomes for the equine community. Horses need resources and support when they are no longer appropriate for current discipline or environment. Nexus provides those option either by putting horses in our adoption and transport programs OR by providing assistance to horse owners with veterinary and farrier care so that horses can remain at home.
Nexus collaborates and partners with other equine organizations, horse and breed associations, national animal welfare organizations and horse enthusiasts on a local and national level to help horses more efficiently and effectively. Our team works hard to help Oklahoma horses—check out recent news coverage, press releases, and social media posts about our efforts in the News Center.
