Meet Rio, a 16h 15yo appendix gelding I’ve had for 8 years. He’s been a great partner and we’ve done it all from miles and miles of trail rides, at least two-dozen horse camping trips, clinics in cowboy dressage, dressage, working equitation, trail obstacles, drill team, sorting cows and a parade! He’s won me 30+ ribbons and two buckles in trail obstacle events and dressage. He is currently boarded in a stall with run and is turned out in a private turn out during the day.... (read more) He will not do well in a box stall and is best suited for trail riding, horse camping and obstacle events. He knows his arena stuff but he loves being out on the trail.
Rio ties, stands patiently for the farrier, bathes, trailers well and is one of my vet’s favorite horses to treat. He has a huge personality, loves his people, and gets along well with other horses. He needs an intermediate rider to enjoy all his buttons and his sensitivity. He knows his ground manners and lunges and long-lines well. He has been sound for the past 6 years and his vet records will attest to that. Low maintenance. Teeth, vaccinations and shoeing are up to date.
