Meet Gracie! super sweet grade quarter horse mare, just under 14.3 hands. 16 years YOUNG, she acts younger, still got lots of life and energy left in her!
Pros:
-Has done just about everything! Western, english, barrel racing, jumping, gaming, cross country, basic trick riding, cattle herding, bareback jumping, etc.
-Very forward mover, willing worker
-100% sound, no maintenance, super easy keeper
-kid + beginner safe.... (read more) Given lesson to first time riders on Gracie.
-Not mare-ish
-Jumped up to 2’9’
-Great feet, currently barefoot, although I have had her shod in the past simply because I was riding on the roads a lot.
Cons:
-Has equine Thyroid Adenoma, which is a non-cancerous growth on her thyroid. The only known affect it has on her is a higher heart rate than normal. Vet said otherwise she’s in great shape, and is good to go.
-Not 100% bombproof, scared of plastic, as she had a bad experience with it (got caught on her legs) gets nervous around heavy traffic, loud trucks, etc. nothing unmanageable or dangerous.
-Needs a confident rider as she can get nervy in new situations, and can get a little too forward, so she often needs reminders to take it easy. A good, slow warmup with lots of stopping usually does the job.
Overall, she’s a great horse, and I’d recommend her for an advanced beginner—maybe that kid that grew out of ponies and needs a step up. I could see her being a great lesson horse, or simply a trail horse for pleasure riding! 2300 or best offer for this gem.
