This mare is an absolute sweetheart of a horse - she's incredibly personable, with an in-your-pocket disposition and a vibrant curiosity.... (read more) The first to greet you at the gate. She ties (crossties and hard tie), stands for a farrier, and loads into trailers easily - have done both step-up trailers vs ramps and straight loads vs slant loads without issue. Easy to fly spray, easy to blanket, easy to deworm, doesn't flinch at needles, tolerates touch all over her body and LOVES having the insides of her ears rubbed. A favorite with the vets whenever we have them out. Very easy-going horse, with the same owner since she was acquired from the estate sale of her breeder at thirteen months old. Owning her for the last 5 years of her life has been an absolute joy and I have really loved being able to watch her mature into an adult horse. I previously owned her mother, and know many of her immediate family members - this extremely kind, good-natured disposition comes naturally!
Green broke under saddle - very basic steering, walk/trot coming along with a handful of (very smooth) canters under saddle as of this posting. Ridden bareback and with a saddle, no buck. Rides well in a halter. Very very easy to train, very smart, very confident, VERY SANE. Her first trail ride was also her first solo ride, and it went off without a hitch. Road-safe, dog-safe. She has been ponied off other horses before, very good with close contact, has been doing solo trail rides for the past 6 months. We have done basic longing and basic in-handed work, have been working on confirming the snaffle education and the start of lateral work. Will continue to put miles on her, which will be reflected in increases in what she goes for.
UTD on 2023 dentals. UTD on 2024 spring worming, vaccines, and annual Coggins. On a regular 4-5 week trim cycle. Papers in hand.
I haven't height-sticked her yet, but she's somewhere between 13.3-14.1 hh -- big-bodied with a broad back that easily carries 200+ lbs. Due to her size, she would probably be best suited as a child's mount, for a young adult, or as a driving horse. I have been prepping her for endurance, and when I originally acquired her I'd thought to ride her in dressage - she has a natural aptitude for it. Preference to riding or driving home that can manage her metabolic issues and keep her in an active program. She experienced a single laminitic episode in August 2022, which we caught right away and were able to successfully intervene with. There was no rotation in her hooves from the event; radiographs available to prove this. Very easy keeper, and winters well - I have not needed to blanket her for the past four winters. She currently wears a grazing muzzle 24/7 when warm enough to restrict access to food.
