Additional Comments
Pan is an 18-year-old, 15.3H registered bay Standardbred. He raced as a pacer as a youngster. We adopted him at 5 years of age, fresh off the track. Pan accepted a rider immediately and we started re-training him to trot. Over the years, Pan has competed in many open pleasure horse shows, earning blues in carriage driving, riding and in-hand classes. He is a walk-trot horse. Though we have worked on his canter, it needs finishing. Pan has participated twice at Equine Affaire in Mass.... (read more) , demonstrating carriage driving. We have ridden the carriage trials of Acadia National Park and Southern Maine beaches. For the past eight years, he has enjoyed just being a horse.
Pan is the kind of horse who needs a confident handler/rider. He bonds with his pasture mates and does not want to be far from them. At shows, it was not an issue as they were not there. He needs a patient and knowledgeable horse person, who gets it.
He is an easy keeper. He stands well for the farrier when herd mates are handy. He does not like chiropractor work. He loves to be groomed, and especially loves scratches under the jaw and on his neck. He likes routine (don't we all).
He is UTD on vaccinations and trims. His teeth were floated last fall. He is healthy and sound. Goes barefoot (boots for trail riding).
Pan is a big, beautiful boy who would thrive with the right person and herd.
