Meet Montana, 13 going on 14 year old Registered quarter horse mare, goes back to the great Zips Chocolate Chip - Zippo Pine Bar, Two Eyed Jack, and Bonanza lines!! Monty was trained western pleasure before we got her and unfortunately had some hard trauma to deal with. She’s put most of this behind her however, and is an excellent mare. She rides on the trails with no problems, will go up and down steep inclines/declines. Goes in the creek and loves to play.... (read more) She will cross bridges and logs! She enjoys road rides as well!! She stands for the vet, farrier, chiropractor and massage therapist. Also to be bathed or tacked. She has great lines to breed with, and would make a wonderful broodmare!!

Now, Monty does need a more intermediate to advanced rider. She is not a beginner horse simply because of some of the trauma she still holds on to. I have started her on the barrel pattern and she’s had ropes tossed all around her and off her. She’s even caught the dummy calf. But when she shuts down she gets a bit tricky, so I suggest she not go to a highly competitive family. Perfect trail horse, hot show horse is the easiest way to put it. She will ride in the arena like a gem at home walk trot and canter. Big whoa and nice turns. But her anxiety gets the best of her in other pens.
