Fay is a beautiful 17 year old bay thoroughbred mare. She stands 15.3 hands tall. Fay is current on vaccinations and has a current negative coggins test. She had her teeth floated this year. She has never been bred. Fay does have a small blue spot on her right eye (likely from a stick), however she still has vision from that eye and it does not affect her. Photo provided in ad. Fay has good ground manners and will stand quietly tied at the fence while grooming and tacking up. Fay loads into our slant load trailer well (not sure how she does with straight or two horse trailers). Fay is wonderful for our farrier and has good hooves. We have kept her barefoot and she does not require shoes. She has a "hang nail" on one of her front hooves from a previous abscess. However my vet and farrier have both checked it out and said it is strictly cosmetic. It does not bother her and has been there since we have had her. Vet recommended to have it clipped off when weather is more dry. Will send photos upon request.
Fay is broke to ride and is a fun ride under saddle. Walk, trot, canter easily. Direct rein only (does not neck rein). She stands for mounting and will not move until asked. She does like to toss her head a bit at first, but its nothing unmanageable. She is not spooky nor has she offered to ever buck me. She does like to go! She did great on trail rides. It has been quite a few months since I have been able to ride her. I am currently pregnant and unable to. Because of this reason I would recommend only someone experienced for Fay at this time. She will likely need a refresher. Fay is said to be Parelli trained. She has only had one previous owner other than myself. She came from Ocala Florida where she was on thick green grass only. She has lost a little weight (we have to feed both hay and grain in winter) but she seems to be gaining with grass coming in on the property. She is not crazy underweight or anything, I just like to see them be more filled out! Last photo with farrier is most current.
