Additional Comments
Let me just start off by saying, Holiday is an absolute joy to ride!! Trials are welcomed and encouraged. You will love her personality and talent.
She is a true all around horse that is up for absolutely anything you throw at her! She rides English and Western, jumps, barrel races, pole bends, and trail rides. I could EASILY see her being a handy kid’s 4-H or pony club mount.
She has a solid walk, trot, canter foundation with lead changes and is started on jumps.... (read more) She moves nicely off your leg, will collect or extend when asked, is soft in the mouth, and will stop and back off your seat. I’ve had her out hacking in the woods alone and popped over a few logs like it was nothing. This horse absolutely loves to go out on trail rides! She crosses bridges, streams and logs, walks into lakes, and is very careful where she puts her feet on steep, rocky hills. She will take care of you without a second thought! She has already exhibitioned at a few barrel races and handled it like a pro. She would need finished on the pattern for anyone serious about pulling a check, but she has a solid foundation and is easily slow loping the pattern successfully. She will stand tied at the trailer all day long.
Overall, she’s a super fun, versatile mare with a TON of potential, and the best part? She’s SAFE. Absolutely no buck, bite, rear, bolt, etc. No funny business at all in the saddle or on the ground!!
She is worth her weight in gold. She is absolutely youth suitable for a confident kid or teen. I would not recommend her for a complete beginner, simply because she is a more forward ride in the ring and not the deadhead lesson horse type. I’ve had an intermediate on her in the ring and out trail riding and she was an angel. She turns out in a mixed herd, and is middle of the totem pole. In the barn, she stands hard tied or in cross ties, stands for the vet and farrier, and absolutely loves to be groomed and bathed. Overall she’s a very sweet horse and everyone that has met her or ridden her, has absolutely loved her. She has a ton of heart and is always aiming to please. Not a single mean bone in her body.
If I could afford another personal horse right now, she would absolutely be staying with me. She has very quickly become a family favorite at home, just like she was on the track. I galloped her on the track and I am also close with the trainer that started her career on the track as a 2 year old. Because of that, I am able to tell you, with confidence, that she has been sound through her whole racing career and retired sound. She hadn’t taken a single off step on the track and has continued that to her life post-track.
Her price is negotiable to the perfect person. However, I will not negotiate her price until you come out to see her or try her.
